Continuous education

Continuous education requirement

As the holder of a Swiss or recognized foreign specialist title, you are required to undertake continuous education for as long as you practice medicine in Switzerland. The continuous education requirement is independent of your level of employment. According to the FMH continuous education regulations, 50 hours (50 credits) of verifiable and structured continuous education and 30 hours of self-study must be completed each year. The continuous education requirement applies from the year following the year in which the specialist exam was passed.

Continuous education program

Specific continuous education for doctors with a specialist title in hematology is regulated in the continuous education program of the SSH. The continuous education program is based on the continuous education regulations of the FMH.

Continuous education diploma

You will receive the continuous education diploma via the SIWF continuous education platform (myFMH). Hematologists use this platform to continuously record their continuous education activities and apply for the diploma once they have earned the required 150 credits (for 3 years) in accordance with the continuous education program. All diplomas obtained via the continuous education platform are automatically published in the official FMH register of doctors (www.doctorfmh.ch).

Commission for Postgraduate and Continuous Education (KWFB)
