The SSH accepts the following members
All academics of Swiss or other nationalities who are interested in hematology can become members of the SSH. The same conditions apply to non-academics, provided they hold a senior position in the field of hematology (e.g. in a hematology laboratory or in research).
Ordinary membership
Any natural person with an FMH specialist title in hematology or a FAMH title (at least monospecific FAMH hematology) can become an ordinary member of the SSH without further ado.
The ordinary membership fee is currently CHF 250 per year. The amount of the membership fee may be revised annually by the General Assembly.
Extraordinary membership
Any natural person with a state examination (or equivalent training) who is undergoing postgraduate education to obtain the FMH specialist title in hematology or the FAMH title (at least monospecific FAMH hematology) and any healthcare professional working in the field of hematology (patient treatment, diagnostics or research) may become an extraordinary member.
The extraordinary membership is currently free. The amount of the membership fee may be revised annually by the General Assembly.
All extraordinary members and all ordinary members up to the age of 45 are automatically registered with SHOOT.

SSH-EHA Joint Membership
Since February 2020, members of the SSH have been able to take out joint membership with the European Hematology Association (EHA).
Both societies are joining forces with the following objectives: to strengthen hematology at European level, improve research conditions and opportunities, harmonize professional qualifications, and promote cooperation in the fields of research, training and patient care.
The SSH-EHA joint membership offers the following benefits:
- Access to EHA awards and scholarships
- Full access to the EHA Learning Center
- Online access to HemaSphere
- Reduced fees for submitting articles to HemaSphere
- Discount on the EHA Congress and individual registration fees for all other EHA events
- Right to nominate and vote in EHA elections
- Entitlement to travel subsidies for participation in the EHA Congress
All ordinary members of the SSH aged between 37 and 65 are eligible for SSH-EHA Joint Membership. The membership fee is currently CHF 370.00 (CHF 250.00 SSH + EUR 110.00 (CHF 120.00) EHA). Membership is available once per calendar year (currently until 28 February 2025) upon receipt of the membership invoice.
